A Day & Night Of Brush Fires In The Belle

The Belle, St Michael was the theatre of operation for most of yesterday as firefighters continue to battle the relentless spate of brush fires sweeping Barbados. This battle continued into the early hours of Saturday morning, the flames were eventually extinguished around 12:30 a.m. (e-Report video by G Alleyne)

Must say it is refreshing to see the effort being made by the Barbados Fire Service to communicate with its publics.

It would be more accurate to say that the effort is being made by members of the Barbados Fire Service.

The Bajan Fire Fighters' Network is not the official mouth piece of the Barbados Fire Service rather a collection of firefighters, friends and fans of the Fire Service.

Chief Fire Officer: Not Enough Citizens Taking Fire Prevention Seriously

Chief Fire Officer Wilfred Marshall has expressed concern about the high number of structural fires taking place in Barbados, in particular private dwelling houses and commercial building fires. Marshall has noted that while some fires are due to carelessness on the part of homeowners and others have been deemed as “suspicious”, a number of these fires have been classified as “undetermined”. Homeowners and people in general still have a role to play in fire prevention, he has noted.
