Fire Guts Home In Chapman Lane

One house was destroyed and two others damaged when a fire broke out today in Chapman Lane, the City.

Alexis Douglas was left distraught over the loss of her rented home and all her possessions when the fire gutted the insured wall and timber house and adjoining bar, called Lexy’s Bar.

“My little nephew called me and when I ran over I see my home burning so I took up the hose and tried to help,” she said.

Member of Parliament for the City, Patrick Todd, was present and made calls to the relevant authorities to get help for Douglas.

Three tenders and 15 officers from Probyn Street headquarters answered the 11:24 a.m call, under the command of Deputy Fire Chief Eric Rice. (CA)
