In recognition of the 375th Anniversary of our Parliament, The Royal Commonwealth Society is hosting a day of events in Bridgetown on Friday, February 28, 2014. Starting at 10:00 a.m., at the Ministry of Education (old Queen’s College).There will be a parade of Cadets, Guides, Scouts, the mounted troupe and the Royal Barbados Police Force band, as well as athletes who will participate in the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The parade will continue along St. Michael’s Row to Jubilee Gardens, along Broad Street and end at the eastern gate of the Parliament buildings. Here they will be joined by a contingent of Beefeater Guards from London and there will be a ceremony for the raising of the 53 flags of the Commonwealth. In addition, The Royal Commonwealth Society will be partnering with the Barbados Tourism Authority and The Barbados Chamber of Commerce to have cultural street presentations following the conclusion of the Parade.
